How to Get Rid of Razor Bumps for Bodybuilders

Bodybuilders who shave on a regular basis will know all about the frustrations getting razor bumps. Razor bumps start because of hairs that are still inside your hair follicle, it then starts growing into your skin. These ingrown hairs then start to looking like angry red bumps that can often spoil that smart looking freshly shaven face.

Razor bumps are also called razor burns, caused by using an improper shaving tool or product. When your hairs get cut underneath your skin, they will tend to start growing by curling and bending back into the skin as they grow, forming unsightly painful bumps.

Just an ounce of your prevention will be worth more than a pound of cure. By simply using a single-blade razor, in combination with a high quality pre-shave oil and after-shave lotion, is going to be the best way to reduce razor bumps and improve your shave overall.

Here are some great home remedies to help get rid of any ingrown hairs your shaving may initiate. Some are better than others, below is a brief list of a few natural alternatives that will get rid of ingrown hairs and help to reduce your razor bumps, there are many others.

1. ALOE VERA:

Aloe Vera is an old traditional remedy to soothe irritated skin. If you're lucky enough to have an Aloe Vera plant growing in your garden at home, just snip off a leaf and then squeeze some of the gel inside the thick leaf directly onto your skin, it'll get rid of your razor burn. But you can also purchase Aloe Vera gel, but select a brand that has no artificial fragrances or colors.

2. HOT COMPRESS:

If you just soak some cotton wool in hot water and then press it gently on the affected area. The heat will open up your pores, which will allow the trapped hair follicle to break free.

3. WITCH HAZEL:

Witch hazel is an effective natural antiseptic which will help reduce any inflammation in your skin. Apply the Witch hazel directly to your recent razor bumps to reduce any redness and irritation.

4. HYDROCORTISONE CREAM:

Hydrocortisone cream is also an anti-inflammatory similar to witch hazel, but much stronger. This hydrocortisone cream is sold at pharmacies for treating swollen irritated skin. Just apply a small bit of this cream to reduce razor bumps.

5. LEMON JUICE:

Lemon juice is a naturally acidic liquid that will help to stop any bacteria from colonizing into your ingrown hair follicles. When you apply lemon juice to any razor burn redness will be reduced and it'll prevent infection.
